Look Out For Goats At Chicago O'Hare

According to the news outlet, the city announced the plan on Wednesday as part of a two-year contract for "sustainable vegetation management grazing services" that will help them reduce costs and carbon dioxide emissions. To make sure the goats don't get too close to runways, they will be separated from the airfield by security fencing and will remain supervised while on airport property.

CNN reports other airports that have brought goats in to landscape have seen mixed results. In San Francisco, goats are successfully used two to three weeks each summer to clear vegetation, which allows the airport to clear a firebreak without interrupting some endangered species that call the area home. But in Seattle, goats came and went within a week in 2008 because they were too effective, eating everything in sight - including native plants the airport wanted to protect.

Loyalty Traveler - The Sacred Mountain in the San Luis Valley.

Getting been a school teacher for ten years I have a thing about being in a timely manner. This morning I woke up inside the Comfort Inn Durango, Colorado. A nice hotel using a price under $80 subsequent to tax. And one eliminate 8, 000 points with Choice Privileges stay twice promotion through May 15.

A message from Randy Petersen Thursday night night reminded me your Boarding Area blogger conference started at 3pm Fri, May 10. I had it around my mind the conference open at 7pm.

Colorado is one large state and I nevertheless had over 300 miles of driving for getting from Durango to Co Springs.

For the first morning this week I woke close to clear skies all all over. Colorado Highway 160 proceeds across Colorado to I-25, nonetheless Google Maps indicated driving a motor vehicle through New Mexico has been the fastest route.

The countryside of Co was so gorgeous past Durango that I thought to stay on Highway 160 regardless if it meant an additional hour of driving. Starting at 7am, I figured seven numerous hours of driving would obtain me to Colorado Springs at 2pm eventually to check into Cheyenne Lodge Resort (complimentary of Randy Petersen meant for conference attendees) and help it become in time for Randy's cutting open session.

Utah carries a beauty that not anyone find appealing. I loved this quote I saw in the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument Visitor Center in Escalante, Ut:

"When one of us says, 'Look, there is nothing available on the market, ' what we are actually saying is 'I cannot see. ' " – Terry Tempest Williams

The stark beauty of Utah is absolutely not everybody's definition of beauty in the way that the lush Rugged Mountains of Colorado provide broad inspiration.

Pagosa Springs seems like a town that is booming in home ventures. The place contains a resort feel. Being just one hour into my six and also seven hour drive, Used to do not even stop to adopt pictures. Well, actually I tried taking a photo in Pagosa Springs in order to realize I had left the storage device for my camera with the computer from last night's pic dump.

I stopped for gas right at the end of town in Pagosa Springs and retrieved my memory and fueled up on gas thus could drive all the way to Colorado Springs. When I parked the car in front of the gas station store window to utilise the toilet I saw within the store window reflection this passenger side car headlight had been out. Not only was I pressed for time for it to make it to the opening for the Boarding Area conference, Sausage, in Colorado Springs simply by 3pm, but now I had to comprehend how I was visiting get my headlamp bulb replaced with the weekend before heading at home to California on On the.

Heading up to Bad guy Creek Pass, Colorado (10, 857 ft. ) in the San Juan Mountain range between Pagosa Springs together with South Park, Colorado.

Climbing up Wolf Creek Distribute with two lanes was not too bad, but decreasing with a single lane in addition to a big rig truck slowed up me down. I guess the mountains are the time limiting factor that will had Google Maps suggesting a faster route as a result of New Mexico.

Wolf Creek Pass was just one climb of the 301 mile drive. If you might have not driven the higher plateau lands before, then there's a chance you're surprised to learn what lengths you can drive on relatively flat land inside the high mountains. Highway 160 East is relatively flat for about 100 miles after decreasing Wolf Creek Pass using speed limit at 65 most of the way and many drivers (not me ) likely faster.

Colorado Highway 160 is one of the most scenic drives May possibly taken in my visits across Colorado. Interstate 70 is a fast route through this Colorado Rockies. Highway 160 gets the vantage point of experiencing the Rockies from kilometer after kilometer away and in much better perspective than I-70.

In Alamosa I stopped again for any bathroom break. Coffee, juice and much water were taking her toll on my bladder. Then, pulling out of your McDonald's parking lot, I noticed an auto parts store across the street. And across the street in the auto parts store was your car service shop.

Thirty minutes later I was back while traveling with a working headlight using the kindness of Town & Country Auto Mall in Alamosa. Big scream out to those males.

While the young repair shop was fixing the headlight, he asked merely had been to Superb Sand Dunes National Park. He commented that it may not be that interesting to me since i was from California and probably had already looked at sand dunes.

In truth, I grew up inside the sand dunes of Monterey Clean and spent many per day losing myself deep within the dunes when I was a teen in the 1970s; before they built a Highway 1 freeway closer to the beach dunes in Marina and also the remaining sand dunes were changed into California State Parks with restricted the means to access allow dune plant repair.

With the car funding working order, I was prepared to speed on to Co Springs. Turns out that i probably did not get delayed in any respect from the thirty moment auto service stop due to the fact right outside Alamosa there was a car rollover smash just being cleared in the highway.

About 15 miles distance of Alamosa I saw the sign for Excellent Sand Dunes National Park as i whizzed by. There were no other cars driving on the road and my mind assumed 16 miles is pretty close to reach the National Park entrance and this can be a remote area that I might never pass by ever again. I made a u-turn and turned on road 150 for the National Park.

A pullout quickly Highway 160 had informational displays and I stopped to test them out and take pictures the impressive mountain in advance of me.

Mount Blanca (14, 365 foot. ) is the fourth highest mountain in the Rockies and the 8th highest with the 48 states. What is specially striking about this mountain peak is its prominence, climbing 7, 000 feet higher than the San Luis Pit.

Even more significant may be the informational sign I stopped to see states this is certainly one of four sacred mountains to the Navajo. 'Sisnaajinii' or White Shell Mountain is the eastern boundary or front door into Navajo Land.

Dinetah are definitely the Navajo People and several sacred peaks mark your land. Wars between the Utes and Navajo compelled the Navajo to more western lands.

Another sign tells the story of how the Colorado Utes lived in this region of the San Luis Valley in the event the first Spanish arrived around 1598 with horses. The Utes adapted to our life with horses for hunting and warfare.

The Utes skill around combat kept permanent European settlement straight from the San Luis Valley until 1851, just a few years so next valley became the main United States in the land annexation following the Mexican-American War of 1846-1848.

Realizing that I would lose 1 hour by going right to the National Park and then have no time to hike and explore whilst still being make the conference on time for the opening with BAcon forced me to obtain back in my car to push the final 100 kilometer after kilometer to Colorado Springs without the need of visiting Great Sand Dunes National Park.

Yet, Personally i think I learned so much about this sacred valley and mountain peak from reading two informative signs. My decision to generate a u-turn on Highway one hundred sixty and take ten minutes to get educated about Mount Blanca and the San Luis Valley offered a worldly experience into American history and ancient peoples' culture.

I arrived in the hotel at 1: 30pm, seen in, cleaned out a few days of car rubbish I'd accumulated over 1, 600 miles of driving in addition to made the opening period at 3pm.

Greenwich: Prince Harry Could possibly be Blacklisted By St. Regis Lodgings For Defeating Their Polo Team.

Oh, who tend to be we kidding? We're confident St. Regis Hotels and additionally their polo team, captained as a result of hunky Nacho Figueras, let Prince Harry in addition to his Sentebale Land Rover company win the match which includes a final tally of 4-3. All things considered, the hot ginger Dictator Harry even scored the winning goal.

The polo match happened last week included in the Royal Salute Sentebale Polo Cup for the Greenwich Polo Club within Connecticut. The match was the opener for the polo season and it's primary goal isn't to give us illustrations or photos of Prince Harry and Nacho together but rather to raise awareness together with support for healthcare and education of the children of Lesotho, Photography equipment.

Several other St. Regis Connoisseurs found cheer the St. Regis team on--which contains Dawn Jones (wife associated with Tommy Lee Jones)--such as designer Jason Wu, Starwood's SVP Brand name Management Dave Marr, Greenwich Polo Tavern Co-Founder Peter Brant along with Stephanie Seymour, Nacho's wife Delfina Blaquier (pictured above), product Karolina Kurkova and Olivia Palermo.

Now you will be wondering why St. Regis can be so cuckoo for polo (our early thought was because it's precisely what their rich guests are interested in) but it's more to be a tribute to the original owners for the St. Regis Hotel inside NYC, the Astor household, who were a fixture with the polo matches on Govenor's Island with the turn of the the twentieth century.

Today, the St. Regis brand, which is a part of Starwood Hotels, has been hosting polo matches worldwide in the UK, where they only just held the 6th Annual St. Regis International Cup to Thailand, South The country and coming this fall, Mexico City. So really, it's still pretty much something that guests who can pay the St. Regis are into but no less than it gave us photos of Prince Harry within this Monday morning.

This Gatekeepers Of Asia: In person With The Border Guards Of China and taiwan.

know that active sadism is supplanted simply by bureaucracy, vanity and venality. In my opinion these are highly more advantageous alternatives. Once you skills land borders adopt those principals, they can be easily navigated with a bit of tact, patience and occasionally a minute financial stimulus. I find these vagaries far easier to handle than the gleaming workstations and suspicious minds of which protect Western countries with threats

. At least this caprices of Asia's gatekeepers are generally motivated by personal incompetence, not institutional torment.

To create things easier, I've noticed after a long period of driving mine car around Asia, just how bureaucracy that entails, there are some core motivations that will drive Asia's customs representatives. These motivations result in eerily similar individuals from border to border. And so it is about the peculiarities of driving overland for long distances which you could have a near-identical encounter crossing the borders involving countries so disparate for the reason that Iran and Cambodia.

I haven't been to everywhere in Asia, so that i can't say these facts are universal. But the following four different types of border official have shown up at a whole lot of land crossing I've visited so far so it wouldn't surprise me whatsoever if these were pan-Asian character types.

Entering Pakistan from Iran was long process. We signed gigantic registers with entries dating back to '80s and traipsed out of building to building above barbed-wire fences. When were finally prepared to go, having been in the borderlands for hours already, we had to hold back for our security characteristic. We stood impatiently with the rapidly warming desert waiting to obtain under way. And patiently waiting. And waiting some a lot more. Where was this man?

Time doesn't have any meaning when you're coping with authority, so we sat all the way down for chai and were off promptly whenever we finished. Adam Hodge, GadlingLater, around India... "And so I often go now? " As i asked, having laboriously acquired some stamps and bits of paper with Hindi scrawled across them.

"Oh, I are sorry sir, but she's unavailable right now. One is having his lunch and really should return in a several hours. Perhaps you wishes some tea? "

Perhaps even later, in Cambodia... "You can not go, " the customs agent said. "You need to have got your car's documents stamped from the head of customs. inch

"Two hours before, maybe. He should return soon. " rdockum, FlickrThe Wal-Mart GreeterOblivious to his country's immigration and additionally customs protocols, he welcomes you like an old friend, often for your detriment.

Deep in leafy natural forest in northern Malaysia you will find there's small border post by means of Thailand. I stopped at the Malaysian checkpoint and stamped my car's press and practically pushed me out of the country. I inched my own car down the street into Thailand, expecting you to definitely stop me and demand papers, passport, where We was headed... anything. Goodness me! A Thai guard afre the wedding of the lane was watching me within the security lane and he or she beckoned me toward your ex. I drove up and additionally rolled down my truck's window. He smiled broadly for me and indicated I ought to just keep on travelling.

I pulled away within the border and drove slowly later on. I noted Thai families buying fruit from stalls and travelling with the evening food. I was in some bustling Thai market. Certainly no passport check, no vehicle registration, no searches. I parked and walked oh no- the customs building and additionally proceeded to confuse anybody.

Of course, I hadn't been stamped because of Malaysia either. I trotted back across no-man's-land on the Malaysian office where I had about the same conversation along with the border guard, who couldn't understand why I needed an exit stamp to look at was clearly coming coming from Thailand.

Later, in Laos... A few months after, I entered Laos by means of vehicle barge, sharing the boat by using two gigantic cargo trucks for ones 4-minute ride across a Mekong. As I drove in the ramp to the most important road at Huay Xai, I stopped and sought after a uniformed man how we can find a visa, showing him my empty passport. He only grinned and nodded. So i drove on, and I was suddenly in a very town. I sat down with a riverside bar and sipped a Beerlao, enjoying your minor transgression. Eventually I came across the immigration checkpoint 3 miles downstream from the spot where the barge had dropped me off. The customs officials appeared slightly perturbed because certainly no passenger boat had run into for an hour, where had I come out of? This required a pretty taxing explanation, which they eventually and begrudgingly recognised.

The Smuggler's DreamHis only job is usually to check you're not using anything illicit, but he has been either too trusting, lost, or it's too warm outside today.

I tend not to officially advocate smuggling or simply anything. But boy, if a possibility tempting when it's so easy.

Entering notoriously strict Iran out of Turkey, I had done the paperwork dance, and it was time for methods to inspect my vehicle. I nervously led a gruff-looking man dressed in fatigues to where My partner and i parked. He barked at me to open this trunk, which I managed in haste. He glanced with the heap of gear with afar, his eyes lingering in the possibly suspicious-looking photography along with electronic equipment, camping gear, backpacks, and food.

"Uh, virtually no, but... " I commenced, because I certainly did have things from Pakistan. Nevertheless I was interrupted, as in Iran.

Quite possibly later, in ThailandIn Cambodia My partner and i picked up some fellow travelers and the trunk was packed by using bags. The Thai customs officer looked with the window when we explained up.

The JailerLonely, bored, vain or even incompetent, he finds a technique to hang around much longer than you would like.

After my inadvertent entry to Thailand and the subsequent confusion about visas, I still had to register my vehicle drive an automobile in Thailand. In a fan-cooled room within the Thai customs house I came across a fat uniformed male melting into his seat, as if squashed by gravity along with the weight of his mind boggling responsibilities. He barked assignments at two demure a lot of women as he fanned himself with my car's persuits documents. He seemed in no hurry to well then, i'll go, raising objections to each of my attempts to proceed things along. After stonewalling my paperwork temporarly while, I realized the trouble: he actually had no idea what he had been doing, as he never did any of the work himself. With this approach established, it was a simple task to organize things while using two friendly ladies, who filled everything out and deferred dutifully to the nice squinting Hutt for her precious signature.

Later, ever again in Thailand... When I left Thailand within the north, I realized the ghosts of customs past had followed me up the entire length of the land. The big man inside south had neglected to provide me some obscure bit of paper that would allow my car to result in Thailand.

"So wait, hang on. You will let me drive returning to where I came from without any permits, but you won't okay leave? "

About halfway through my sentence he had turned and slithered into his freezing lair. I leaned my go to the small window and another official batted me away to be a stray dog.

"What the hell am I supposed to do, then? " My partner and i called after him, some sort of question he dutifully ignored.

So I did a lot of dog would do. I stood there staring forlornly on the distance for 10 a matter of minutes, whimpering softly, until he went back. He had a document in hand, and he was happy at me.

He was now my supporter. I was on this way. Jeremiah Roth, FlickrBonus Protect: The SleeperThe sleepers will do whatever it takes to get you gone so as to get back to your dreams.

I still wanted to get my car's practices documents stamped first before I should have leave Thailand. I didn't expect this to travel any better. I climbed the steps with the customs office and poked my head through the slightly open door. An adolescent guy in uniform ended up being out cold at your partner's desk, his belly rising and falling in a very peaceful rhythm. I cleared my neck and he awoke which includes a full body spasm. He looked mildly ashamed as soon as he saw me, his wide eyes betraying the guilt associated with a lurid dream. I whipped available my form.

He shrugged together with started stamping, offering myself a self-satisfied grin the moment finished, as if there had been no easier task in the world.

Loyalty Traveler - Cesar Chavez National Monument

East of Bakersfield, Highway 58 climbs 4,000 ft. over the Tehachapi Mountains. Eight miles before Tehachapi Pass is a town called Keene at about 2,600 feet in elevation. Well, there is not actually a town as far as I saw. The population is 481 residents spread among the foothills of the Tehachapi Mountains.

Cesar Chavez and his family made La Paz their home and the grounds were used to train and educate farm workers to organize unions, campaigns and boycotts.

Cesar Chavez Visitor Center is still a work in progress. The visitor center has numerous photos and the office of Cesar Chavez.

I made a whirlwind tour of the Cesar Chavez National Monument in the 15 minutes before the park closed. Hours are 10am-4pm every day.

In the past 20 years the acreage of California vineyards has grown significantly. There is an area of southern Monterey County with several square miles of grapes that I wanted to photograph today, but I could not stop my car on Highway 101 in that location.

May is a major harvesting month in the fields of California and I have seen thousands of fieldworkers across California in the past week harvesting strawberries and artichokes and working the fruit orchards and vineyards.

Mesilla, Brand-new Mexico: Discovering A Different Side Of the Southwest.

Found just 44 miles northwest of El Paso in the fringes of Las Cruces, Mesilla can be a historic village established in 1848. Perhaps best named the location for Billy your Kid's trial, Mesilla has also played an integral role with the development of the Freebie southwest, in part because that it was along the Butterfield Stagecoach Tier. I'm obsessed with things New Mexico, but despite numerous potential prospects to the northern part of the state, I'd never become south of Albuquerque. I was a simple sell.

The drive to help Mesilla presents a stunning contrast in topography. About 30 miles at night arid plains and stark Franklin Mountain variety of El Paso, the Rio Grande grows by a trickle to substantial enough to help with lush vegetation. I'd hardly ever seen a pecan cedar before, and suddenly I was passing countless acres of them, in every one their towering, leafy glory (after Texas, this region – Dona Ana County – is a nation's largest producer). They had fields of onions and chiles (Mesilla is exactly 42 miles away coming from Hatch), and vast milk farms. As a previous ranch kid, I instantly felt in the house.

I whiled away a few hours by strolling the Plaza and emailing the handful of distributors who sell their products from tables around the country's perimeter. This is site to buy a travelling bag of pecans and home made bizcochos (buttery little cookies), or a set earrings. The Basilica of San Albino characterizes the north end with the Plaza, and is there for visitors from 1 so that you can 3 p. m. day-to-day, except on Sundays. Afterward, I sipped an icy horchata and read more the shady patio of a coffee house. It's unthinkable (to me, at least) to be in New Mexico and not really eat. The region's most well-known restaurant, La Posta, is around the corner from the Plaza. This stunning 19th-century compound was once perhaps the Butterfield Stagecoach Line, but today it's better known for its green chile enchiladas and additionally signature Tostada Compuesta.

Courtesy of Ken Stinnet Before advancing towards the airport, I driven the few miles down a back road to Mesilla Valley Bosque Declare Park. Unfortunately, it was still closed for ones season, but the drive meanders past pecan orchards, crumbling adobe homesteads and calm farmhouses. Horses graze inside verdant pasture, and fields of onion using their flowering lavender heads intersperse a orchards. It's lovely, in addition to a side of New South america I've never seen, used when i am to the striking ochre landscape, canyons and severe mesas of the north.

At the end of a business trip, I'm often content to just arrive at the airport early, and spend the time period people watching and examining. My jaunt to Mesilla ended up being a reminder that sometimes it's worth any additional effort to hit the trail instead.

Frequent Miler - 40.5% off everything at Kohl’s

UPDATE: Code BLOSSOM15 is no longer working.  Kohl's charge card holders can still get 30% off with code SAVE30, but it is no longer possible to get 40.5% off in total.

Until May 22, Kohl's has two stackable coupons that total to 40.5% off everything (except gift cards) at Kohl's.  There is both a 30% off coupon (SAVE30) and a 15% off coupon (BLOSSOM15).  The trick is that you do need to have a Kohl's charge card to qualify for the 30% off coupon.  When you apply both coupons, you'll get a combined discount of 40.5% off.  The great thing is that this discount is applied to sales & clearance prices as well!  If you spend more than $75 (after discounts), you'll also qualify for free shipping.

The picture above shows an example of stacking both coupons with a product that is on sale.  The purchase comes with free shipping because the total order (before taxes) is greater than $75.  This is just and example and is not meant to be a recommendation to buy the product shown.

In addition to this 40.5% discount, you will qualify for $10 of Kohl's cash for every $50 spent (after discounts, but before shipping and sales tax).  That sounds like an additional 20% rebate if you buy in multiples of $50, but its not really.  When you pay with Kohl's cash, the portion of your order paid that way does not qualify for discounts and does not count towards totals needed for free shipping.  Regardless, Kohl's Cash can be used to buy stuff, so it's a nice extra perk!  Plus, Kohl's Cash is deducted before sales tax is calculated, so you do get a small discount by not having to pay tax on that portion of your purchase.

When shopping online, it's always a good idea to start with a portal that offers points or cash back for your purchases.  I've always had great luck with Chase's Ultimate Rewards Mall, and they offer an amazing 10 points per dollar for Kohl's purchases!  In my experience, the points are earned regardless of what coupons have been applied.

You can save even more (or earn more points) by buying Kohl's gift cards before making your purchases.  If you want to get the gift cards quickly, the simplest approach is to go to a store where your credit card earns bonus points and buy Kohl's gift cards there.  One great example is to use a Chase Ink card at an office supply store to get 5 points per dollar.  Another similar option is to double dip at Staples.com.  Start at a cash back portal such as uPromise and click through to Staples.com.  Buy Kohl's e-gift cards and pay with a Chase Ink card (5X).  The e-gift cards should arrive overnight or early the next day.  Note that Kohl's only allows up to 4 gift cards to be used per order.  Finally, if you'd rather save money than earn points, consider gift card resellers.  Search GiftCardGranny.com for deals on Kohl's gift cards.  If you're in a hurry, opt for electronic gift cards rather than paper ones.

Delta Tips - SWAG Saturday: What is your aspirational “ fun”!

This past Friday, before a PVT BoardingArea seminar, I had the amazing privilege of flying with MJ from MJ with travel. As many readers know lake started in college I was taking my pilot's license. I chose not to ever follow that but MJ did and flew for AA way back when. What a fun time there were buzzing around Colorado Arises and I think you will note more about the day and some photos on his blog soon (and perhaps a few photos here as well)!

But that brings up my question for today's swag giveaway. What do you need to use points to do for ones "first time ever". I want love love to scuba dive. It had been a bit since I "got wet" along with Lisa & I had a stupid amount of fun last year with Grand Cayman on points we mostly got from both people EACH getting an INK BOLD and an INK PLUS card each a year ago.

So for today's giveaway, all you want to do is tell me what we have always wanted to complete and hope to use points for getting that done? As always the rules are HERE and We are picking the winners for the fun mix of travel stuff you see below! – René

New York: How Will Langham Area Fifth Avenue's New Bar 'Determine' Around the Old One?

While Langham Chicago appears to be going right on through some minor delays, the wait is officially over with Langham's newly-rebranded property in Nyc. making its grand introduction tomorrow. Although we gave you a heads up about the change last drop, Langham sent an official announcement late last week, confirming that tomorrow, May 7, the former Setai Fifth Avenue can become Langham Place, Fifth Avenue. We are mostly told by the announcement what we already knew, except for a few minor details. As it happens the hotel can indeed undergo some aesthetic changesa'including new permanent artworks, updated design, a Chuan club, and a new lounge/bar idea. And good news for individuals visiting NYC this week: the beginning of the new bar, featuring a menu by former Maialino cooking Jeffrey Seizer, coincides with the re-branding of the hotel tomorrow. So come hungry! (For those of you thinking concerning the destiny of the hotel's celebrated restaurant, Ai Fiori, rest assured. It is staying put for now. ) The newest bar/lounge will be called Measure, and the menu will function "American and British comfort food with a twist," in addition to classic cocktails, wines, and craft alcohol. We are maybe not expecting any major surprises regarding the latter, but as for the American and British-inspired convenience fooda? Whatever can it mean? Cooked cheese with house-cured pork? Cod and chips in the form of sliders? Heinz cooked beans? Measure will also function live jazz every night beginning at 8pm. Additional changes range from the opening of Chuan Spa, which can be Langham's own massage model and we have written before in regards to the one at Langham Auckland. Consistent with the Chuan design, the spa will feature spiral baths and organic water areas and will give attention to traditional Chinese medicine remedies and strategies. Although if you are in need of some pressure level caressing quickly, plan on looking elsewhere, while the massage will not debut until 2014. Costs from $715/night [Photo: Facebook]

The very best Airlines For Redeeming Numerous Flier Miles.

Some sort of survey by IdeaWorksCompany seen 25 of the major frequent flier programs figure out which carriers were best when it located redeeming frequent flier tips. The study checked all the airline's primary routes to work out what level of availability there seems to be for travelers looking to help you book a flight from them miles.

Among the significant players, United Airlines took out eighth put on the list with forty-nine percent availability. Other large airlines did more serious, with American Airlines producing reward seats available about 49 percent of times, while travelers trying to help you redeem miles on Delta or US Airways can have been successful only 36 percent of times.

So why did spending plan airlines fare so well with the study? According to the firm behind the survey, cost effective airlines focus on offering up short- and medium-haul flights that operate multiple times a day – meaning there are simply just more seats to go around. The same principle applies if you're trying to book a short-haul flight using a major airline, with incentive availability hovering around 85 percent for flights with 2, 500 miles. It is the long-haul intercontinental flights by using lower seat density this drag the big totes down the rankings.

Some experts also believe the reason why budget airlines keep topping the survey is this fewer business travelers (who usually tend to dominate frequent flier program enrollment) have used them – meaning that thinking about time to claim ones reward miles, you don't need to compete with as most people for your seat.

New Girl in the Air - Personal Points: The Positives of Travel Far Outweigh the Frustrations

My trip out to Colorado got off to a rough start, with my original flight RIC-ORD-COS on United being cancelled.  By the end of the night, I finally got to Denver on rebooking #4 (RIC-IAD-DEN) after flip-flopping between airlines, airports, and connection points.  Even still, I landed 3.5 hours later than I expected…and at an alternate airport to boot.

While it was really annoying to deal with tweets, phone calls, and airline agents at the time, the truth of the matter is that it's still pretty amazing that I can get from my office in Virginia to a hotel in Denver in 10 hours, even including the many delays.  Sure, I had to change my hotel and car rental arrangements on the fly, but sometimes a challenge can be fun.  Getting a sweet upgrade on my rental car made things a little easier to swallow and being able to spend time with some family members in Denver unexpectedly was also a welcome surprise.

Mostly, though, I am just entirely grateful that I made it to the event I had been looking forward to.  I've had a great time reconnecting with other travel buddies and have a few new ideas on where this blog is headed.  Inspirational in every sense.

But the real reason that the positives of travel far outweigh the frustrations along the way?  I get this on a Friday at noon instead of spending my day delving into spreadsheets.  If these mountains aren't worth it, than I'm not sure what is.

I prefer to only book a reasonably priced room at an airport hotel when I have a that long. I value a credit (towards top tier status with Hyatt or Starwood) at about $60, and in this case the newest Aloft Bay Area Airport was $100 with duty. So I was ostensibly paying yet another $40 above what I value a stay credit at to have a place to sleep for the evening. For that matter Iave really wished to try Aloft accommodations because Iave yet to remain at one, and I was curious what they were like provided that they're aa vision of T Hotelsa (which isnat something to wish to, in my own view). If nothing else, having a room to relax set for an eight hour layover saves me at the least 2,000 calories worth of snack mix that Iad normally be munching on within an airport bar, in contrast to a room, where I've a quiet spot to work. We took the shuttle from the airport, that will be distributed to the Marriott. It took about 10 minutes to get to the lodge, and we were the only ones to exit at the Aloft. Resort exterior Hotel exterior Where a cheerful representative examined us in in significantly less than one minute, once inside the hotel I found the circular check-in desk to the best. She was acutely skilled and offered two vouchers to us for complimentary hot beverages and thanked me for being a Platinum member. I also wanted an airport view room, which she laughed at, although gladly complied with. Lobby Drink deals The lobby had a public place with a pool table, as well as a huge bar, called aWXYZ Bar.a Reception WXYZ Club WXYZ Club Aloft marketing Where our place was found, we took the lift as much as the sixth floor. It had an odd colored lava-like ground that gushed around as you walked on it. Lift ground The hallway smelled and looked afresha considering that the hotel remains new. Our room was about halfway down on the proper. Hall The areas are standard and all identical (there are no suites). There was a fairly comfortable king-size mattress, and by the window a desk and a counter. I came across the shops through the entire room to be conveniently located, which unfortunately canat be said for many $500+ per night accommodations Iave stayed at. Area access Space Bed Evening stay The highlight of the room must be the beautiful views of the terminal and runways 1L and 1R. Airport view Airport view By the entrance was a dorm-style closet and the bathroom. Closet A sink was featured by the bathroom with Bliss facilities. Toilet Happiness features In a room next to it were a shower and toilet that has been partitioned off by way of a glass shield. Bathroom Shower The shower had wash and human anatomy wash dispensers. Generally dispensers drive me nuts for just two reasons. One is which they donat appear to work or furnish such a thing half enough time. The other is that theyare generally filled up with crap items. In this instance the dispensers worked perfectly and were filled up with Bliss items, therefore I actually valued them. Dispensers Wi-fi in the resort (both in the rooms and in the lobby) was fast and free. In terms of the public services, the hotel includes a reasonable size indoor pool and fitness center with modern equipment. Share Gym Fitness center There is also a very great outside courtyard. Courtyard I am confused even by my opinions sometimes. Iave flown international first class services and products that leave me feeling indifferent, though oddly I was practically overjoyed by my first Aloft remain. Itas a lot more confusing since Alofts are aa vision of T Hotels,a and I donat love W Hotels. But every worker as of this place was super-friendly and happy, and the rooms were found by me to be excessively useful. I think you might say the undeniable fact that there are no apremiuma areas made my stay more pleasant as a member a' itas fantastic for managing expectations since I knew there was no shot at a room upgrade, and the space was exactly as advertised. And the convenience of rooms was also good in managing expectations. The less amoving partsa there are to a room, the less there's to not be functioning or to be frustrating. So while I formerly intentionally eliminated Aloft hotels, Iall actually seek them out in the foreseeable future. Theyare like Ws minus the pretentiousness, that is my biggest complaint about Ws.

Fly Gracefully - Precheck actually available for international travelers

Passengers flying internationally from the 40 participating TSA Pre✓™ airports may be eligible to receive expedited screening. In addition, passengers with connecting domestic flights who arrive in the United States on an international flight may use the TSA Pre✓™ lanes when going through the screening process at participating airports after being cleared by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

I'm happy to see this since I've already been to Canada 3 times this year and those were also the 3 times I have not been selected for Pre✓ at CLT.  I just got taken off my next trip to Canada so I won't have time to test this out for a couple months, but for many other Pre✓ eligible travelers this will make the program finally usable.

One Mile at any given time - A Royal (dis )HHonor: Introduction

IntroductionAloft San Francisco AirportCathay Pacific Lounge San FranciscoCathay Pacific First School San Francisco to Hong KongCathay Pacific First School Hong Kong to SingaporeSt. Regis SingaporeSingapore Airlines Silver Kris Bar SingaporeSilkAir Business Type Singapore to Koh SamuiConrad Koh SamuiBangkok Airways Economy School Koh Samui to BangkokLe Meridien BangkokRoyal Jordanian Organization Course Bangkok to Hong KongCathay Pacific aThe Winga First Class Lounge Hong KongCathay Pacific First Class Hong Kong to San Francisco Bay Area I have a confession to produce. I draw at preparing my own personal trips, despite the fact that I (partly) strategy different peoplesa journey for a living. This tried almost every advanced cottage product out there and have is probably because Iam equally a, therefore Iam always buying a new ahigh,a though Iave arrived at know there are very few new ahighsa out there. The journey planning started innocently enough. Last April I booked a Cathay Pacific high grade ticket to Bali because of this March. As an Executive Platinum member with American as the departure time approaches at no cost I can always make changes or even end, and truth be told that Cathay Pacific first class honor house is outrageously good, especially out of Bay Area. They often launch two top class honor seats per flight, and at 135,000 AAdvantage miles per individual itas a total bargain. But as the departure date approached my trip changed completely. Not just that, but I dragged some body alongside me as a result of how great last minute space is. As not really a single section remained the identical to I originally planned, and I made changes literally until two hours before departure for the outbound, and changes to the get back whilst in Asia a matter of fact. Initially the theory was to attend Bali, but after the Hilton devaluation was announced I decided going to the Conrad Koh Samui will make more sense given simply how much itas going up in price. The problem is that OneWorld doesnat travel to Koh Samui, so itas not exactly that easy. You actually have a few alternatives for getting there. You can book Cathay Pacific as far as Singapore and then grab a flight from Singapore to Koh Samui, you can fly Cathay Pacific as far as Bangkok and then grab a Airways or Bangkok Airways flight from Bangkok to Koh Samui, or you can fly Dragonair as far as Phuket and grab a Airways flight from there to Koh Samui. There are other ways too, but those are the easiest. Iall spare you men the gory planning facts, but in as follows: the conclusion the routing appeared 3/22 AS328 Seattle to San Francisco departing 2:00PM arriving 4:19PM3/23 CX873 San Francisco to Hong Kong departing 12:05AM arriving 6:00AM (+1 day )3/24 CX91 Hong Kong to Singapore departing 8:00AM arriving 11:50AM3/25 MI772 Singapore to Koh Samui departing 9:00AM arriving 9:50AM3/29 PG1172 Koh Samui to Bangkok departing 6:50PM arriving 7:55PM3/30 RJ182 Bangkok to Hong Kong departing 3:25PM arriving 7:00PM3/31 CX872 Hong Kong to San Francisco departing 12:30AM and arriving 10:10PM (-1 day )3/31 AS311 San Francisco to Seattle departing 9:15AM and arriving 11:17AM As I stated earlier, the ashella of the journey was looked after with 135,000 AAdvantage miles per person in top class, including the pieces between Seattle and San Francisco, San Francisco and Hong Kong, Hong Kong and Singapore, Bangkok and Hong Kong, Hong Kong and San Francisco, and San Francisco and Seattle. The total taxes on that admission were about $100. Cathay Pacific top class Then in Singapore I decided to book the St. Regis. As I wrote about in this site post, I discover Singapore to be one of many most annoying resort markets for anyone wanting to receive things. Iave remained at the Conrad, Crowne Plaza, Great Hyatt, Global, Marina Bay Sands, and Shangri-La. And so I thought it was finally time and energy to try the St. Regis, particularly provided we have there been for a night. The price was 360SGD (~$290USD), which seemed like a better deal than redeeming for a totally free evening or money & details, considering that it is a category six hotel. St. Regis Singapore suite Then I used Singapore KrisFlyer miles (transferred from American Express Membership Rewards) for the tickets between Singapore and Koh Samui, which price 17,000 miles per person (usually 20,000, but thereas a fifteen minutes discount for booking online), plus about $80 in fees and gas surcharges. SilkAir business class The Conrad Koh Samui cost a cool 145,000 HHonors factors for the four days, compared to the settled costs of over $1,000USD per night. Not really a bad value, if you ask me! Then we taken care of instructor seats on Bangkok Airways from Koh Samui to Bangkok, which charge about $100USD per person. I'd have settled for business class (which retails for just a moderate premium), though the only flight available was one of their aircraft with just one cabin. aMeala on 50 moment Bangkok Airways coach trip In Bangkok we ordered the Le Meridien, which I have stayed at before. It had been $100USD per night and near where we wanted to be for an instant overnight in Bangkok. Le Meridien Bangkok Anyway, because I've lots of forthcoming journey little this month) (though fortuitously Iall try to post this vacation survey very successfully. Only I would like to know when you have any questions or comments!

5 Famous People From Florence, France

Florence is more than merely a lovely Italian city; over time it has been the birthplace of many essential people ever sold, from Donatello to Catherine de Medici. As numerous notable those who have hailed using this town as there are places in which to stay Florence although there are probably, letas take a look at five you will truly recognisea Florence is recognized as the homeland of Renaissance, and was your home of several famous Renaissance artists such as for instance Donatello and Michelangelo. Both were extremely skilled artists, and both are fabled for their aDavida statues. The 15th century art scene was revolutionized by donatello. One of his true most famous works is aDavid,a a statue commissioned for the court of the Palazzo Medici. It was the 1st free-standing naked statue built since ancient times and it was like no other just work at the time. Michelangelo is yet another important Renaissance artist related to Florence. He also created a aDavida statue, which will be maybe even more famous than that of Donatello. The sculpture is supposed to be aArepresentation in marble of the right male kind a soAwhy did his creator not make him a' how could one say a a little better endowed? The mystery is said to have been resolved, seemingly his amale organa is supposed to have reduced by worries of Goliath..! Where: Although the true statues of David have been in Museo Nazionale del Bargello andAGalleria dellaAccademia, you can see an imitation of Michelangeloas David at Piazza della Signoria. Born in Florence in 1940, Roberto Cavalli is just a clothier who's known for created the asand-blasteda style of lighter-coloured denim jeans, that is now a standard style for several denim manufacturers. He started his career in 1965 when he was only in his 20s, producing hand-painted T-shirts. He proceeded to become one of many most well-known Italian fashion designers. Elton John is really a huge fan and is believed to spend hours in the store selecting clothes. Cavallias models are associated with rock-and-roll and they start using a large amount of feathers, color, silk, leather and much more. Where:ANext to his store is Caffe Giacosa, a great cafe which Cavalli really owns (and developed of course!). It's a fantastic atmosphere and delicious food and coffee! Daughter to Lorenzo ll delaware Medici, Catherine was a noble girl born in Florence in 1519. She would eventually simply take the throne as the Queen of France after marrying King Henry II when she was only 14. Henryas death pushed her in to the political world. In 1560 her weak 15-year-old son, King Francis II died, leaving her as regent for her 10-year-old son, King Charles IX. She also played an integral position in the reign of her third son, Henry III. While she is thought to be unforgivably questionable, she is considered by many historians to function as the most powerful person in 16th century Europe. Where: The Uffizi gallery (one of probably the most popular on earth) was once a palace of the Medici family full of art treasures. The art can be viewed by today visitors collected by the family and others at the memorial. Botticelli was born in Florence circa 1445 and went on to become an Italian painter through the Early Renaissance. He studied at the Florentine school under the prestigious patronage of the popular Lorenzo de Medici during what would later be considered the aGolden Age.a His best known works are aThe Birth of Venusa and aPrimaveraa whilst the aAllegory of Springa) (also known. The latter is reported to be among the most discussing and most controversial pictures on earth. Where: Both pictures stated earlier hang at the Uffizi gallery in Florence. These are just five types of celebrities who have hailed from Florence, Italy, but needless to say there have been additional over the years. This area only seems to have something special and uplifting and when you visit you will view it for yourself. About the Author: Sarah Sherman is a freelance writer who has spent the last 8 weeks making her way gradually across Italy and writing about what she discovers. She's fallen in deep love with this town.

Congress Ends Air Traffic Control FurloughsaUntil Sept

Well it seems like after all the political posturing over the air traffic control furloughs due to asequestration cutsa that Congress is finally getting its act together and has approved a statement that will stop the furloughs and must keep carefully the air traffic get a handle on system functioning normallyaat least until September 30. Hopefully air traffic will get right back on schedule easily. The House passed its bill today whilst the Senate unanimously passed an identical bill last night a' just in time for them to adjourn for a weeklong trip and avoid air traffic delays independently way home to areas, unsurprisingly enough. It would have now been out of self-interest, but at the least something got done. Itas not that Congress has resolved the general $85-billion sequestration pieces. Somewhat they only did some creative accounting and changed about $250 million from other parts of the Department of Transportation to the FAA. Even though some government officials were predicting delays for up to 6,700 flights a day, the total tally of delays only associated with staffing dilemmas for the day on Wednesday was 863, mostly at high-traffic airports in New York, La, Washington DC, Dallas and additional cities. Thatas in comparison to over 2,100 setbacks due to bad weather and other conditions the exact same day. On Tuesday, the numbers were 975 from other causes and 1,025 delays because of team shortages. Mondayas numbers were 1,200 furlough-related delays and 1,400 weather-related ones. That didnat end airlines and airports from accusing the delays on furloughs, however, with regular notices over airport and airplane PAas and urges to write to members of Congress to do something. Although the larger dilemma of sequestration remains a problem facing the government, this air traffic issue-within-an-issue highlights so just how political these events really were with lawmakers virtually keeping the traveling American public hostage for their own political brinkmanship goal. Adding insult to injury, Congress people let their constituents experience by way of a week of delays and only acted when their own travel plans will be influenced. Iam pleased to begin to see the air traffic situation settled a' for some months, at least a but Iam frustrated with Congressas steps and I bet plenty of other people are also. Were your vacation plans impacted by the furloughs this week? Did you or do you want to write to your Congressional representatives to share your opinion? Canadian Kilometers - Aeroplan Transfer Advertising

Just like the one they'd in November this past year, Aeroplan is having an exchange promotion (until May 13) with bonuses for transactions from details into Aeroplan Miles. Unfortuitously like before, AMEX Membership Rewards is excluded. Bonuses begin at 5,000 points (2,000), as much as 26.67% once you move enough toAreceiveA150,00 Aeroplan Miles. This can be a reward percentages: My thoughts Unless youare bent on gathering Aeroplan Miles, the only transfer associates that I'd use is CIBC since their Aventura solution only has Aeroplan as a transfer companion. SPG is not bad if you want a company school day at Europe as that means transforming 65,000 factors are certain to get you 90,000 Aeroplan Miles which appears appropriate and is the cheapest of the conversion options (as United is 2:1 and US is excluded from the 50% transfer campaign that they have). You'll desire a lot of points from the other resort programs (Club Carlson, BW Rewards, Marriott, Wyndham, and Choice) to actually get enough for a prize so I'd rather convert to UA or AA (all of the programs listed above companion with one of these programs) so you've much more flexibility. Live from the Lounge - Jet Airways highlights transportation between Mumbai International & Domestic devices

Jet Airways has now made some amends to the guests who use their entry in Mumbai and need to transit more into the state. Till a day or two back, you might have to reach Mumbaias final 2, obvious immigration & methods and collect their luggage, redeposit it with the exchange desk, and then head to Terminal 1B utilizing an airport run passenger bus, that used to frequent about every 30 minutes making it an extremely complicated process. Now, theyave secured a few gates at the International Terminal (Terminal 2) where inward international passengers on Jet Airways flights between 0230 AM and 0645 AM at Mumbai will have the ability to transit directly to their flights from Terminal 2C. The method remains similar where in fact the individual is in charge of clearing immigration & methods, collect their bags and get to the exchange table. Once there, they go through the process of security check always and depositing their bags at Gates 4 or 5, in place of needing to go to the domestic final and boarding the flight. While I have maybe not tried this out and maybe wonat because BOM is my home airport, it should be good to understand for people who transit via Mumbai. Also, at this level of time, the news release just states aarriving on Jet Airways flightsa, so I'm not sure if guests coming on another airline and joining on Jet Airways meet the criteria or not, but I'll update and check this accordingly. New Girl in the Air - Marriott’s Look No Further Assure & the Courtyard Memphis Airport

I couldn't feel the value of hotel rooms in Memphis.A Apparently, it's a more common area than I thought since I was looking at spending $200 for a basic downtown hotel unless I redeemed a Marriott MegaBonus document at the Courtyard Memphis Downtown (a category 4 hotel if you can book before May 16 when it's re-categorized as category 5 ).A However, my journey wasnat scheduled to land until 11pm anyway, so I decided I might as well just book an hotel for the night.A As an additional benefit, picking right up my rental car the next morning instead of the night I stumbled would save half the cost since Iad manage to make use of weekend pricing.A Perfect! For the Love of Music: Today, Marriott is smart enough to realize they're simply the only person when it comes to Memphis airport hotels: you wonat find one associated with any of the other major resort players.A Theyave capitalized on this and were asking $105/night for an advance-purchase price or $129 for a flexible reservation, but a research on Kayak showed me that another scheduling website was offering the fully flexible reservation at the advance purchase rate.A Getting the benefits of a flexible room and still saving cash is a good choice, but I knew I could do better. Marriottas aLook No Furthera rate is basically a most readily useful rate guarantee.A If you find a greater publicly-available price on a web site besides Marriott.com, theyall fit the reduced price and give you one more 25 percent off.A My rate would also qualify to make hotel items, continues toward MegaBonus, and elite status gains and certification. While Marriott has a rapid recovery time once you submit your claim, you will need to keep in mind a couple of restrictions: I went ahead and booked the flexible rate of $129/night and submitted my claim which offered a rate (also for a rate) when scheduling via GetaRoom.com.A Within four hours, I had an answer that my claim was refused since Marriott offered the same price for the room (despite Marriott requiring a restrictive termination plan to get that price ).A Thatas irritating, but I wasnat stunned predicated on their terms and conditions.A I locked in the low price straight through GetaRoom rather. However, Iam a fighter and just two days later, I was near enough to my stay day that the nonrefundable charge wasnat even offered on Marriott.com (they usually involve 7+ days advance purchase for the discount ).A At this time, GetaRoom was still supplying a lower price a' but now it was down seriously to $79 versus. $129.A I started the process over from stage 1 and my 2nd attempt with the claim was a success! My stay finished up being great with an on-time airport taxi, friendly and helpful team, and a comfortable room.A Iad recommend the home if you discover yourself in the area; with the potential for discounted prices or elsewhere only 10,000 things per evening, itas a great deal. If Memphis isnat your cup of tea, take a look at among my other trip reports.

One Mile at a Time - Pakistan Airlines anyone? Stimulating (and inexpensive) method to get from Chicago to Barcelona…

Iave been fascinated with afifth freedoma and unconventional flight routes, like New York to Vancouver on Cathay Pacific, New York to Frankfurt on Singapore Airlines, London to Los Angeles on Air New Zealand, Singapore to London on Qantas, and so on. Anyway, starting June 5, 2013, Pakistan Air companies will offer twice weekly support between Chicago and Barcelona a' what could be more fun? The company operates on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and after reading a trip report about Pakistan Airlines Iam actually kind of interested to try them. Best of all per the Great Deal Premium Fares thread on FlyerTalk, the prices are extremely fair. Roundtrip business school a' even yet in the peak of summer a' is merely $1,358 all-in. And a lot more exciting, to me at the least, is any particular one way business course is merely $769. While thatas a little more than half of the roundtrip price, many airlines demand at the least the same for a one way international ticket as they do for a roundtrip. I think I will just give them a try. As an example Iave wished to fly Iberiaas new business school possibly to/from Europe, although certainly not roundtrip. Rather than burning an extra 50,000 miles for one other direction Iad rather just pay to fly Pakistan Airlines. All things considered, certainly that will make a fascinating trip report? Regrettably most readily useful I can tell Pakistan Airlines doesnat actually companion with any helpful airlines in terms of distance accumulation. But with those kinds of prices, who wants miles?

AAdvantageGeek - American’s new 777-300ER: Connecting your iPad, iPod, iPhone or Laptop to the Entertainment System

American installed a version of Panasonicas eX2 systemAon their new Boeing 777-300ER. AIt supports around 120 films, 350 audio choices and 150 TELEVISION programs, as well as activities, apps, routes, and communication and message features. In addition, it offers at least one USB port and AC electricity outlet at every chair. And if youare traveling in First or Business Class youall also acquire some other functions, like extra USB ports and more AC sites, youall also have AV ports that that enable your own devices to be connected by you to the in-flight entertainment system. What this means is that you can mirror your laptop to the IFE screen to watch a video or work on a demonstration, you can connect your iPod and handle and listen to its music utilizing the IFE program choices, or view and listen to content stored on your iPad or iPhone. How you do that is dependent upon what kind of unit you have. AThere are two types of A/V input options: composite video withAseparateAleft and right audio channels, and Panasonicas proprietary eXport. Composite Youare likely familiar with composite A/V associations, theyare the three cables with RCA jacks: a yellow plug for video, red for right audio, white for left audio. Many video cameras, transportable DVD players, and some notebooks have these kind of older, analog connections. ATo connect these kind of units whatever you will need are yellow, red, and white composite wires or (if your system has a single audio jack) youall also need to obtain a Y splitter to divide the right audio channels and left. Many Windows laptops, like iPads, iPhones, MacBooks, and newer devices have digital video ports, therefore youall require a particular cable or converter. S-Video: If your laptop supports s-video out, hereas a to Composite adapter with right and left audio. VGA: VGA to blend requires greater than a wire, it requires signal conversion. AYouall need to acquire a VGA to Composite converterAand youall also need to have AanAaudio Y wire splitter with 1-mini plug and 2-RCA plugs. HDMI: AIf your notebook has HDMI or Mini HDMI youall need HDMI cables, RCA composite cables, and a converter like this general HDMI to composite video converter from ViewHD. MacBook, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro with Apple Mini Display Port and Thunderbolt: All you need is this adapter fromAOKEBA. AIt works with the brand new Apple ThunderBolt relationship and both Mini DisplayPort and Aconverts to to RCA Composite Video. AIncludes cables. iPhone through iPhone 4S: AApple Composite AV Cable with USB connector that one may plug into a power supply. iPad Touch 1st through 4thAgeneration: AApple Composite AV Cable with USB connector that one may plug directly into an electrical supply. iPod basic 80GB a 160GB: AApple Composite AV Cable with USB connection that you can put in to an electrical supply. iPad Nano 3rd thru 6th generation: AApple Composite AV Cable with USB connection that one may put into an electrical supply. iPad 1st thru 3rd generation: AAApple Composite AV Cable with USB connection as possible plug directly into an electric source. iPod Touch 5th Generation: ALightning Electronic AV Adapter supports HDMI. AYouall still have to acquire theAuniversal HDMI to composite video converter from ViewHDAand cables (soldAseparately). iPhone 5: ALightning Digital AV AdapterAsupports HDMI. AYouall still need certainly to obtain theAuniversal HDMI to composite movie converter from ViewHDAand cables (soldAseparately). iPad Mini: ALightning Digital AV AdapterAsupports HDMI. AYouall still need certainly to acquire theAuniversal HDMI to composite movie converter from ViewHDAand wires (soldAseparately). iPad 4th Generation: ALightning Digital AV AdapterAsupports HDMI. AYouall still need to obtain theAuniversal HDMI to composite video converter from ViewHDAand cables (soldAseparately). Panasonic eXport Ship is Panasonicas proprietaryA9 green mini-DIN iPod/iPhone port that provides both an audio and video link while it charges your unit. AUnlike the composite link, it integrates with the entertainment system and allows you to navigate and handle your iPod or iPhone from the entertainment system menues. To connect to the ship youall need and adapter such as this ship In-Flight Video Cable for iPod and iPhone fromAGriffin. It doesnat use the iPhone 5, iPad mini, or the 4th gen iPad. AThese devices all have the brand new Apple Lightning connection rather than the 30 pin USB connection that Apple has used for years. A For the unit youall need to use a composite connection (at least for now). Flash One of the features of the entertainment system is as you are able to view photos stored on a USB drive. All you've to do is connect your flash drive using the USB interface, the entertainment system has software that'll allow you to open and see your photos. Future engineering At the media celebration for the inaugural trip of Americanas new 777-300ER AI had an opportunity to discuss the new in-flight amusement process on the 777-300ER, and visit with Mark Smith, Americanas Manager of Inflight Products. One of the interesting things about the Panasonic system is that itas modular, whilst companies turn out with new inventions and interfaces, American may adapt the system and add new connectivity possibilities as time goes by. Something different he mentioned, that I thought was both interesting and strange, was that through the development of the newest IFE program he and his staff used quite a bit of time at Panasonicas facility in California working with their designers. In fact one of the AA downline used over 150 days out there doing QA testing. Each of them was able to generate status in one of the hotel programs and became pretty significant details lovers along the way. AWe spent some time talking about resort details and reward presents, and needless to say I told them all about Loyalty Traveler!

Spain: Granada the Great

Published by Writing Contest on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 a Comment is Left by A This really is an in the We Said Go Travel Writing Contest compiled by Gina Sloman from America. Thanks for the entry Gina! The afternoon has just begun, If the sun sets in Granada, Spain. Set between the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the sandy shores of southern Spain, Granada is nothing short of a storybook. Little alleyways are full of the sounds of men offering bread from the panederAas( bakeries), young children in their school uniforms clasping for their mothers as they walk home from school, and students experiencing a hot cafA con leche between classes. A once thriving area to the Moorish community, Granada holds the notable culture of the past, and encourages its people, in addition to readers, to savor the thousands of Arabesque tea homes, tapestry shops, and obviously the world famous Alhambra Palace. The magnificent Islamic development is famous of Granada; preserved and maintained therefore the others could gawk at the structure, step by step identities, fountains and gardens that once belonged to Muslim princes of Spain. Throughout the way from the Alhambra you'll find the AlbaicAn neighborhood; a community too narrow for vehicles, yet such a sizable part of history. At its peak is the Mirador de San Nicholas, an eye fixed level view of the Alhambra, as well as breeding ground for many of Granadaas underground performers, jewelry manufacturers, and those who are looking for a place to rest after a evening of dancing in one single of Granadaas many clubs. Tucked away in the AlbaicAnare the caves when the Spanish Gypsies stay, and frequently preform flamenco shows. Another function of Granada that separates it from other cities of Spain may be the tapas. Tapas are small servings of food standard to Spain that are free only in the City of Granada, when a beverage is ordered.A The Granadinos (these local to Granada) will give the core information to you concerning which tapas bars are the best. It is not unusual to create a night of tapas bar jumping into a reasonable, and tasty dinner. The city ignites your throughout its many festivals over summer and winter. Decorative flowers, elegant parade floats and people wearing costume aren't different views to everyone in Granada. Even though hustle and bustle of city life is interesting, Granada unwinds each Sunday, as merchants close their doors, and storeowners return home for family time. All that may be seen would be the trickling fountains in the plazas, and the bell of the spectacular Granada Cathedral, designed with an assortment of Renaissance, Gothic and Baroque aspects, and the burial site of Queen Isabel and King Ferdinand-Spainas most famous Monarchs. Translated in to English, pomegranate is meant by aGranadaa, and that is exactly what this town is. A vibrant burst of flavor, made up of a large number of distinctive vegetables, that after each one is assembled form an attractive site to see. Where you wish to be whether you are looking to backpack through Europe, planning a family vacation, or looking for a unique getaway for two, Granada is. So go. Socialize with the local good fresh fruit vendors, admire the art on the streets, order the best churros con chocolate youall actually style, learn how to dance flamenco, and become a part of Granadaas growing and fascinating tradition.
